Tim Burgess was on the UK’s BBC 6Music breakfast show this morning announcing a brand new Charlatans album.
Different Days is the band’s thirteenth studio album and is due for release on May 26th, following on from the notable successes of 2015’s Modern Nature. Special guests on the record include Paul Weller and Johnny Marr, just two of many who joined in with sessions which were self-produced at their own studio in Crewe.
“After Jon (Brookes) died we decided not to replace him on drums so the first port of call is always Pete Salisbury, who plays with us live, so he was our first guest,” frontman Tim Burgess told 6Music.
“And then as we started to write more and more songs it became apparent that we’d like to ask Stephen Morris to play with us, so Stephen ended up playing on seven songs, and Gillian from New Order also played on one.”
Release will come the day before The Charlatans support The Courteeners at Emirates Old Trafford cricket ground, when Blossoms and Cabbage are on the bill too.
