The exact cause of the tragic events which claimed the lives of the four members of Viola Beach and their manager in February will not ‘ever be known’, a coroner has concluded.
In reaching his verdict on the car accident in Sweden on February 13th 2016, BBC News reports Cheshire coroner Nicholas Rheinberg revealed manager Craig Tarry and bandmates River Reeves, Jack Dakin, Kris Leonard all died due to head injuries, while bass player Tomas Lowe had drowned. He added that the five ‘will not have suffered’.
However, given that ‘no evidence of drugs’ was found with only ‘a small amount of alcohol’, and that Tarry, who had been driving the vehicle, had been doing so ‘in a controlled manner’ and had ‘no drugs or alcohol’ at all in his system, he could not give any reason for the accident.
“It’s not for me to speculate,” he’s quoted as saying. “I don’t think it ever will be known what happened,” adding that, “the evidence did not reveal the cause of sequence of events”.
