Carl Barat will return to the studio with The Jackals and concentrate on ‘heavier’ material than that he produces with The Libertines.
The unusually composed comeback for Barat’s first love did at one stage look like bringing his association with the band he formed after becoming tired of life as a solo artist to a premature end, but after what he describes as a ‘bit of a reunion’ not too long ago, he will indeed continue on with his side charges whilst Pete Doherty concentrates on a solo resumption.
“With The Jackals, I can get a lot heavier stuff under the radar than with The Libertines,” Carl told NME. “I look for that, to do something different. There’s no point having the same band twice with one of them little and one of them massive – like a penny farthing.”
