The Libertines played the very definition of an intimate show yesterday when they performed at the Boogaloo pub in north London.
It could well prove to be the final scene of the third act of the band’s career which opened with the 2014 live reunion and continued apace last year via their long awaited ‘Anthems For Doomed Youth‘ studio album.
We say this since they were on Twitter yesterday using their oft-quoted Vera Lynn line, ‘We’ll meet again, don’t know where, don’t know when’, though if this does prove to be it for a while, the quartet can at least look back on a far more satisfactory period than that which drew so abruptly to a close a decade ago.
Looking ahead, Pete Doherty is likely to release a new solo record very soon after sessions at Clouds Hill Studios in Hamburg with Johann Scheerer, and has already shared the ‘World Is Our Playground’ single.
