Adele has confirmed herself as the final headliner for this year’s Glastonbury festival, according to reports.
While her residency at the O2 Arena in London continued last night (March 18th), the singer reportedly broke the news to the crowd, ending months of speculation regarding the identities of Glastonbury’s main players for 2016 since the event sold-out virtually straight away last October.
Given the mass appeal she commands from your archetypical Glastonbury punter, Adele has always seemed a likely fit for the Pyramid Stage, but has shyed away from the big stages and big tours for most of her career.
All that has changed since the release of ‘25‘ however, and this confirmation will surprise no-one particularly since co-organiser Emily Eavis told the Metro last month that all three headliners for 2016 are British.
Adele joins Coldplay at the top of the bill, while the onus will be on Muse to inject a bit of early electricity to the event when they headline the Friday night.
Other acts announced so far include PJ Harvey and, for the Sunday tea-time slot, Jeff Lynne’s ELO.
