Syd Barrett‘s 70th birthday will be marked tomorrow (January 6th) when his official website relaunches with previously unseen photographs.
The founding member of Pink Floyd sadly died in 2006 having gradually fallen away from the limelight following his departure from the band in 1968 and a very occasional solo career.
And with Wednesday representing the start of what would have been his 70th year, his family and friends will celebrate the life of one of the UK’s most influential songwriters by sharing previously unseen, restored family photographs at sydbarrett.com.
“2016 promises to be an exciting year for Syd Barrett’s fans and we hope that in keeping with my uncle’s talents, this online resource will act as a springboard, inspiring a new generation of artists – both musical and visual,” nephew Ian Barrett says.
As such, regular updates are promised on the website revealing more exclusive material, photographs and information, as well as detailed analysis on featured songs, reviews, essays and images from a range of celebrity guest writers.
