Having been confirmed as the first headliner for next year’s Sound City event in their home city Liverpool, The Coral have now detailed plans for a new album and wider UK tour in 2016.
With trademark understatement, The Coral gradually went into hiatus after the release of ‘Butterfly House‘ in 2010, after which various band members have undertaken side ventures and solo projects.
They’ll be back on March 4th however, with a brand new album entitled ‘Distance Inbetween‘ which is dedicated to the sadly departed Deltasonic boss Alan Wills.
“Before we started making the album we had discussed that we wanted it to be more minimal and rhythmical,” frontman James Skelly says.
“We thought ‘if you’ve got a rhythm section that’s been playing together for almost twenty years, why not make that the centre of the songs?’”
Ian Skelly, Nick Power and Paul Duffy return with their frontman, while former Zuton Paul Molloy has joined up on guitar and will play a part in the UK tour dates which are as follows:
MARCH
Newcastle Riverside (4)
Glasgow O2 ABC (5)
Leeds Brudenell Social Club (7)
Nottingham Rescue Rooms (8)
Birmingham O2 Institute2 (10)
Sheffield Leadmill (11)
