Work on a biopic of the legendary Who drummer Keith Moon could finally get underway in the near future.
A movie looking at Moon’s eventful life and career has been planned for several years, and appeared to be close to getting started some time ago with Mike Myers in the lead role before Roger Daltrey rejected the script, declaring later that the film, ‘Depends on someone sitting me down long enough with a writer to get it right’.
It would appear Da Vinci Media Ventures’ Wendy Rutland has managed just that, and while a screenwriter is not yet thought to have been commissioned, Daltrey has said in a statement: “The Keith Moon project is one close to my heart so I am excited to reinvigorate it.”
“I am a massive Who fan and consider Keith Moon to be the greatest rock drummer of all time,” Wendy Rutland added. “I could feel Roger’s passion and detailed perspective for this unique story after our first phone call. We are excited to be topping up our deal with Exclusive, and look forward to growing the relationship.”
