Bloc Party frontman Kele Okereke has been speaking about the current status of the relationships within the band as they prepare to enter another indefinite hiatus.
The group’s guitarist Russell Lissack told Postmedia News last month that they are planning more time off after a three-year break previously began in 2009.
“Definitely after we finish the festivals in the summer we’ll be taking some time off,” he said. “At least six months, maybe a year, maybe two years, it’s hard to say. Once we start taking time off people start doing their own thing. So once people start doing things, then you’ll start naturally extending how long we spend apart.”
And now, during an interview with The Guardian, Okereke has hinted at personal tensions continuing within the band following the release of ‘Four‘ in 2012.
“There have been some things going on behind the stages and now we’re working our way through it,” he remarks. “Being in this band isn’t always the easiest thing. We’re four British young men that maybe aren’t the best at expressing ourselves or our emotions.”
Despite the expected break, Bloc Party will release ‘The Nextwave Sessions‘ EP, recorded on the road during the past year, on August 12th.
