Feist‘s fourth studio album ‘Metals‘ has won the 2012 Polaris Music Prize, the Canadian equivalent of the Mercury Music Prize.
“Polaris is asking me for a quote,” Feist has said of winning the award.
“I haven’t had a second to consider how to talk about this yet, but what I want to say is thank you to the people who really listened to my record. I’m genuinely grateful from one solitary listener to another. Honestly, thanks.”
The likes of Drake, Grimes and Fucked Up had been some of the other leading names for the prize, with ten acts in total competing for the $30,000 cheque. “Our jury is showing an ever growing passion and dedication to reviewing, discussing and advocating their selections,” Polaris founder and executive director Steve Jordan said when announcing the shortlist back in the summer.
