Red Hot Chili Peppers frontman Anthony Kiedis has admitted ‘it felt good’ when John Frusciante left the group, because he believes their former guitarist will be happier pursuing other projects.
“It felt good because I knew he would be happier doing something else,” he told the Daily Mirror. “We had accomplished so much with John, something we will live and die being very proud of.”
Frusciante was replaced by Josh Klinghoffer, whose arrival and new ideas breathed new life into the Chili Peppers according to Kiedis.
“Josh walked through the door with a sense of self,” he continued. “Within a couple of weeks he started showing us some of his ideas and we thought these are really beautiful and we can build on them and make it happen.”
After a UK arena tour is completed this month, the Red Hot Chili Peppers will embark on a trio of massive outdoor gigs in the UK next summer, including a date at the prestigious Knebworth Park.
