From The Sky Down has been directed by Academy Award winning director Davis Guggenheim. Earlier this year the various members of U2 returned to ‘Achtung Baby’s birthplace, Hansa Studios in Berlin, to discuss the record’s genesis.
“In the terrain of rock bands – implosion or explosion is seemingly inevitable,” Guggenheim has said on the film. “U2 has defied the gravitational pull towards destruction… this band has endured and thrived. From The Sky Down asks the question why.”
From The Sky Down, which has been described by Entertainment Weekly as “…quite simply, one of the most transcendent close-up looks at the process of creating rock & roll I’ve ever seen,” will be screened in the UK as part of the BBC’s Imagine Series on Sunday 9th October, 2011.
