Simon Cowell is working hard to lure former Oasis star Noel Gallagher on to the US version of his hit TV show The X Factor, according to The Sun newspaper.
A ‘source’ told the newspaper Cowell has approached Noel Gallagher and Sir Mick Jagger with a view to them appearing on the programme as judges. “Simon wants to go one better than American Idol, who have Steve Tyler, and has set his heart on British rock ‘n’ roll royalty – with Noel and Mick top of his shopping list,” the source said.
“Noel’s manager met up for early talks and there is serious money on offer. Simon is a huge fan of Noel’s songwriting and the no-nonsense attitude Oasis brought to Britpop in the 90s. He’d be great to dish out feedback.”
Despite the unconfirmed reports, it would be a huge surprise if Noel accepted Simon Cowell’s advances, as he has previously rejected offers to have an Oasis-themed night featured on the UK version of the show.
Noel Gallagher is widely expected to release his debut solo album some time next year
