The Pogues will celebrate their 30th anniversary with an end-of-year gig in London, it has been confirmed.
The current Pogues line-up of Shane MacGowan, Spider Stacey, Jem Finer, James Fearnley, Andrew Ranken, Phillip Chevron, Terry Woods and Darryl Hunt will appear at The O2 in London on Thursday, December 20th. As previously reported on Live4ever, their 30th year will also be marked with a commemorative DVD which captures the band live at the Olympia in Paris and is due for release on November 12th.
“The Pogues reunite once again for the ultimate seasonal send-off to get everyone in the festive spirit,” organisers have said. “Only a Pogues gig can create the party atmosphere of St Patrick’s Day in December with their unique mix of traditional Irish folk, punk and classic songwriting.”
After the founding members became regulars on the late Seventies London punk scene, The Pogues had evolved organically from various other projects by 1982, and two years later they released their classic debut album ‘Red Roses For Me‘.
