As the fall-out from their cancelled US tour continues, the tabloid press is again looking to stir up the Kings Of Leon melting pot, with reports today claiming the band’s frontman Caleb Followill has been urged to enter rehab by his bandmates in an attempt to bring his alleged drinking problems under control.
Despite Followill again insisting Kings Of Leon’s tour was pulled due to health issues, the US Weekly has quoted a source suggesting Jared, Nathan and Matthew have differing views on the underlying reasons behind their recent troubles.
“Caleb’s drinking is out of control and they are trying to get him into rehab,” the source is quoted as saying. “It’s a dark demon he has been fighting for a while.”
However, a spokesperson for the band has reiterated the official stance to the magazine, and revealed the band are anticipating a return to touring duties next month.
“The reason for the cancellation of the tour is Caleb is under doctor’s orders for vocal rest,” the spokesperson says. “They feel terrible about cancelling. They look forward to getting back on the road at the end of September.”
