Muse picked up the Best British band prize at last night’s NME Awards bash, seeing off competition from Arctic Monkeys, Foals, Biffy Clyro and Kasabian at London’s Brixton Academy.
The trio were however beaten to the Best Live Band award by Biffy Clyro, while Arcade Fire‘s ‘The Suburbs‘ added yet another gong to its ever-growing list of accolades by picking up Best Album.
Elsewhere, Manchester duo Hurts pipped Beady Eye and Everything Everything to Best New Band, and My Chemical Romance picked up two awards for Best International Band and Best Video.
Laura Marling followed up her surprise triumph at the recent Brit Awards by being named Best Solo Artist, and Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl and PJ Harvey were both recognised in the Godlike Genius and Outstanding Contribution categories respectively.
