After the soothing avant garde virtues of 2011’s ‘Conatus‘ were re-imagined a year ago via the new collection ‘Versions‘, Zola Jesus has now confirmed the fourth studio album proper ‘Taiga‘ is due later this year.
Nika Roza Danilova will release the album in October, and has offered up a 50-second preview via the video which can be seen below.
‘Conatus’ was named as one of Live4ever’s essentials of 2011; “(It) won’t be for everyone,” our review reads. “It just won’t. And that’s fine. This kind of album isn’t for jukeboxes and TV montages; it’s music for people who purposely find 40 minutes in the day and listen to an album all the way through, just for the sake of hearing it.”
“Never mind that the track listing reads like a Haiku anthology. This music doesn’t need a woman cartwheeling around with a glittered-up toilet seat on her head to validate its avant garde credentials.”
