Three versions of While My Guitar Gently Weeps have been shared online in anticipation of the 50th anniversary re-release of The Beatles‘ 1968 self-titled double album, commonly known as The White Album, on November 9th.
George Harrison’s early ‘Esher’ demo, recorded as his increasing disillusionment with his fellow Beatles led to a growing creative bond with Eric Clapton, is streaming along with the later studio take 2 and an updated 2018 mix. “In remixing The White Album, we’ve tried to bring you as close as possible to The Beatles in the studio,” producer Giles Martin writes in his introduction to the new edition.
“We’ve peeled back the layers of the Glass Onion with the hope of immersing old and new listeners into one of the most diverse and inspiring albums ever made.”
Among the various editions is a deluxe 3CD set on embossed digipak with fold-out poster, portrait photos and a 24-page booklet.
