No, it seems The Strokes aren’t working on a new album with Rick Rubin after all.
Despite last year’s update from Nick Valensi – when he said the band were ‘alive and well and living in New York City’ and ‘working on music we want to hopefully put out next year’ – being followed up a few days ago by Albert Hammond Sr telling The West Australian that sessions were being undertaken with Rick Rubin, Hammond the younger has been on Twitter to contradict everything we thought we knew.
“Sorry everyone we are not in the studio recording,” he wrote. “Forgive Albert Sr he got prematurely excited. A lot of unknowns and nothing worth speaking about at this time.”
