Pete Doherty is continuing work on a new Libertines album after completing drug rehabilitation in Thailand.
The band are now working on new material at a ‘secret location’, according to reports, after they first started the next phase of their reunion in Thailand during Doherty’s treatment.
The rehab centre’s owner, Simon Mott, revealed Doherty’s stay had largely gone well despite bizarre attempts from some to sabotage the course.
“He received a lot of fan mail which we searched before handing it over,” Mott said. “Sadly, on two occasions, we intercepted drugs we had to destroy. It sickened me that there are such disgusting people out there who would go to such lengths to sabotage his treatment.”
2015 should see The Libertines release their first studio album since the self-titled second effort of 2004 which, by the time of its release, had already documented the messy demise of the group and the departure of Doherty.
Early rumours had suggested Jack White could be ready to helm the final sessions, but this was swiftly denied. Noel Gallagher has offered his services since though, telling Q Magazine:
“I’ll definitely be interested in the Libertines LP. If I had time I’d love to produce that record. I love those two. I hope the record is as interesting as the journey making it because, if they actually do make it, that’ll be amazing in itself.”
