Spector are whirring back into action after their 2015 second album Moth Boys and will release a brand new EP early next year.
Ex-Directory is due in January 2018, as is a gig at the London Omeara (January 16th). Speaking about its lead track Untitled In D, frontman Fred MacPherson has outlined the deliberately stripped back approach the band had during its recording. “Untitled In D’s been burning a hole in Spector’s pocket for a little while now,” he’s explained.
“I wrote the bones of it pretty quickly then Jed came through and channelled the ghost of John Frusciante on guitar and we knew we were on to something. After the sheen of our first two albums it was exciting capturing something simple and irreverent – the sound of us playing in a room rather than playing in a computer.”
The EP will comprise three other tracks, including Wild Guess and Fine Not Fine.
