Pink Floyd have secured the third fastest selling album of the year after ‘The Endless River‘ went to number one on the UK Album Chart yesterday (November 16th).
‘The Endless River’ had become the most pre-ordered album in Amazon’s history by the time it was released last week, and only Coldplay‘s ‘Ghost Stories‘ and Ed Sheeran‘s ‘x‘ can boast a more frantic week of sales across the board.
All this means Foo Fighters had to settle for second place on the chart with ‘Sonic Highways‘, something Dave Grohl had apparently come to terms with by the time midweek figures starting rolling in.
“If we’re going to take a Number Two to anybody, I’ll take it to Pink Floyd,” he was quoted as saying by NME in London on Wednesday (November 12th). “I imagine that it could be worse. I mean at this point you have to imagine we’re not really that concerned about that sort of thing because we got what we got and it’s really great.”
