Roger Daltrey has told NME he will step aside next year from his regular position as the curator of the Teenage Cancer Trust concerts as he will be out on tour, and is to be replaced by Noel Gallagher.
“I’m not doing it next year because I’m on tour and Noel Gallagher has kindly offered to step in,” Daltrey says. “So he’s putting the bill together. Obviously I’m in the background and I’m not going away. I’ll put feelers out but he kindly offered and I accepted.”
“I’m on the road all the way through to the beginning of March. So it really helped me out. Instead of being on the beach on my vacation in January on the bloody cellphone for eight hours a day, I can actually get some sleep.”
Earlier this year, the likes of Pulp and Paul McCartney performed at the Royal Albert Hall for the Teenage Cancer Trust. With Noel on board for 2013, expect a one week residency from Kasabian and little else.
