Vampire Weekend frontman Ezra Koenig has revealed the band’s next album is ‘80% done’.
Koenig made the statement when responding to a question from a fan on Twitter, bringing closer the prospect of a follow-up to 2013’s Modern Vampires Of The City.
The next record will be Vampire Weekend’s first without Rostam Batmanglij, whose departure was confirmed at the start of 2016. He has since gone on to record solo material and release a superb album with Walkmen frontman Hamilton Leithauser entitled I Had a Dream That You Were Mine.
“A couple years ago, Rostam and I sat down at his house and talked about whether our collaboration was dependent on being members of the same band,” Koenig said of the break.
