Modest Mouse are seemingly preparing a first studio album since 2007 for release, something reportedly confirmed by their label Epic Records.
The band joined the world of Instagram earlier this week and posted a picture of the 7″ single ‘Lampshades On Fire‘, a track whose existence in the live setting goes back to 2011, and it should now be premiered as a single next Monday (December 15th).
Modest Mouse were last in the studio for ‘We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank‘, an album recorded with Johnny Marr, but did find time to spend most of May this year on tour in the US.
Their 2000 third LP ‘The Moon & Antarctica‘ surely remains one of this century’s crowning achievements, full of invention, concept and subtly intelligent songwriting. It received a 10th anniversary reissue in 2010 on CD and vinyl formats, remastered from the original tapes.
