Bez has registered his new political party under a different name in time for this year’s UK General Election.
The Happy Mondays man’s bid for mini-revolution in Salford looked like it might be over before it had barely started last month when the the Electoral Commission pointed out that he had failed to respond, on ‘several occasions’, to warnings that his Reality Party sounded too similar to the Realists Party.
This threatened to put a dampner on the hard-hat wearing prospective MP’s hopes for a seat in the House Of Commons; just days earlier at his campaign launch he had been busy handing out free beer to onlookers while declaring:
“Labour has let everyone in Salford down. Supposed to defend the people and be for the working class, but now they only have ever-so-slightly different polices from the Conservatives.”
Crisis has been averted though thanks to an official name-change to ‘We Are The Reality Party’ ahead of the May election.
