Fleet Foxes drummer Joshua Tillman has announced he will be leaving the band following a final show in Tokyo, Japan.
Tillman’s farewell gig will take place tonight (January 20th), and was confirmed by the sticksman in a typically low-key fashion on his personal Tumblr page.
“Farewell Fleet Fans and Friends,” he wrote. “Back into the gaping maw of obscurity I go. Tokyo is my last show with the Foxes. Sorry if I was distant and obtuse if we ever met. Have fun.”
With Tillman on board, Fleet Foxes have risen through the ranks since the release of their acclaimed self-titled debut in 2008 to become one of the US’ premier exports. Their second record, ‘Helplessness Blues‘, was released in May 2011, peaking at no.2 on the UK Album Chart.
It has since been nominated for Best Folk Album at the 54th Grammy Awards, which will be held next month in Los Angeles.
Most boring band in America today.
