A Member of the Scottish Parliament has called for a review into last weekend’s T In The Park festival.
Its enforced move from Balado to Strathallan Castle appears to have resulted in many logistical problems for the event, chief among those being apparent inadequate parking facilities which led to huge queues in and out of the site, forcing some festival-goers on to dimly lit, narrow country lanes in a bid to find their way home.
Most of the complaints were lodged on social media, where in turn organisers issued a number of apologies throughout the weekend, though some also offered their thoughts to the local Daily Record newspaper – one suggesting the new site was incapable of holding the same volume of people as Balado.
Now Liz Smith, MSP for mid Scotland and Fife, has told STV there should be a major postmortem into problems which she claims were predicted months previously.
“It is very clear from comments on social and national media this morning that a large number of people who attended the event were very frustrated by what they encountered when they were trying to enter and leave the car parks and also by the lack of adequate policing and stewarding,” she said. “This led to significant numbers of people walking along dangerous roads and disregarding the advice issued.”
