bdrmm have released their second album on New Music Friday – revisit our review and stream it right here.
“Some of the beauty in music is to be found in the highly permeable boundaries between its tribal noises – the common and separate threads for example between blues and rock or soul and funk.”
One of the lesser-known firebreaks long jumped was that between shoegaze – the drony, effects pedal masterclass benchmarked by My Bloody Valentine’s Loveless – and the ambient techno movement which sprung up at roughly the same time. Early skirmishes could be found in Global Communication’s Pentamerous Metamorphosis – a sumptuous reimaging of Chapterhouse’s Blood Music – and Apex Twin’s neat versioning of Seefeel’s Time To Find Me.
“For bdrmm, these possibilities have opened up as the backdrop to their second album which follows 2020’s Bedroom, a release whose success took the Hull-based quartet almost entirely by surprise.”
