“It was something to focus on, that was very, very nice,” was how Stevie Jackson remembered the compiling of Belle And Sebastian’s double live album What To Look For In Summer when it was announced in October.
And after live music has been locked down for the best part of a year, it’s something for us to focus on now as one of Britain’s best live bands showcase tracks from across their career.
Most of the the songs are taken from the US tour of summer 2019 when the band visited venues such as Union Transfer in Philadelphia, House Of Blues in Boston and Carnegie Hall in Pittsburgh.
“For a while, the working title of the record was Live and Meticulous,” Stuart Murdoch remembers. “The record company really wanted it to be called Live And Meticulous. But I don’t like derivative things really.”
