John Frusciante will put out a collection of electronic music under his own name for the first time on October 23rd.
We can credit the eponymous hero of the album for Frusicante ignoring Trickfinger on this occasion – his pet cat Maya. “Maya was with me as I made music for 15 years, so I wanted to name it after her,” he explains. “She loved music, and with such a personal title, it didn’t seem right to call myself Trickfinger, somehow, so it’s by John Frusciante.”
Like everything else in the live music sphere, Frusciante’s return to the Red Hot Chili Peppers is on hold right now after he replaced his own replacement, Josh Klinghoffer, back in the final throes of 2019.
