They’re considered one of the UK’s most prestigious to win, but those artists who are honoured with an Ivor Novello Award this year won’t be getting the usual acclaim we’re accustomed to.

Having already been delayed to September, the decision to still announce Ivors winners for 2020 on the 2nd of that month has been taken, but London’s Grosvenor House Hotel won’t be hosting an awards ceremony as normal.

In a joint statement, Graham Davies and Crispin Hunt of the Ivors Academy have said: “As a community of music creators, The Ivors Academy has presented awards continuously for 64 years and 2020 will be no different. Lockdown proved how important music is to our lives and how fragile the live music industry is.”

“Now, more than ever, songwriting and composing should be championed and celebrated to keep music alive. Our heartfelt thanks to Apple Music, PRS for Music and Grosvenor House London for their continued support.”

Nominations for the 2020 Ivor Novellos will be revealed on July 20th.
