Producer Stephen Street and the band’s full touring line-up have joined Chrissie Hynde on the new Pretenders album Hate For Sale which will be released on May 1st.

The new record brought drummer Martin Chambers back into the studio for the first time since 2002, while guitarist James Walbourne has co-writing credits with Hynde. “I wanted to write with him since day one,” she says of this collaboration.

“James is especially sought after and has recorded with Jerry Lee Lewis, Dave Gahan, and The Rails, to name but a few. We always planned on writing while on the road, but as anyone in a band will tell you, being on tour is a procrastinator’s dream come true.”

First cut is entitled The Buzz; “I think we all know that love affairs can take on the characteristics of drug addiction,” Hynde reflects. “It’s about that. Not mine of course — I’m never obsessive never obsessive never obsessive.”
