Florence & The Machine have returned with their new track Sky Full Of Song.
It’s one of Florence Welch’s first since How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful – and an injury to Dave Grohl – led to a Glastonbury headline performance in 2015. “This was a song that just fell out of the sky fully formed,” she’s said.
“Sometimes when you are performing you get so high, it’s hard to know how to come down. There is this feeling of being cracked open, rushing endlessly outwards and upwards, and wanting somebody to hold you still, bring you back to yourself. It’s an incredible, celestial, but somehow lonely feeling.”
The unexpected Glastonbury headline performance in 2015 was something which Dave Grohl himself was as enamoured with anyone, as he said afterwards: had great affection for. “The day after the gig, someone sent me a link to the performance and I cried like a baby. It melted my heart. I am forever indebted to them. It meant so much, you have no idea.”
