A trailer for the new Ron Howard documentary on The Beatles between 1962-1966 has been released.
The Beatles: Eight Days A Week – The Touring Years will premiere in London’s Leicester Square on September 15th, featuring rare and exclusive footage and produced with the full cooperation of Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Yoko Ono Lennon and Olivia Harrison.
The film is to focus on the Beatles’ period from early gigs at the Cavern Club in Liverpool to their last conventional concert at Candlestick Park in San Francisco in 1966.
The Fab Four built their fanbase, experience and reputation on playing live; from the formative days in Hamburg to the old traditional UK package tours to the era-defining first appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show and their pioneering of stadium rock at Shea, but by 1966 had grown tired and disillusioned with life on the road for various reasons.
It was then that they took the decision to concentrate their time exclusively on studio work and, while classic singles and albums had already been released, they would go on during this period to record some of their most groundbreaking work.
There was some very occasional, one-off live performances subsequently before it all ended with the Rooftop Concert in 1969.
