David Bowie will release a new studio album entitled ‘Blackstar‘ early next year.
Bowie’s first LP since the wonderful surprise of ‘The Next Day‘ in 2013 is due on January 8th 2016, preceded by a lead single on November 20th.
Although the new record isn’t quite as out-of-the-blue as ‘The Next Day’, the prospects of Bowie heading out to play it live are just as slim, particularly after Isle Of Wight festival organiser John Giddings told Music Week recently that he has indeed retired from touring.
“David is one of the best artists I’ve ever worked with,” Giddings said . “But every time I see him now, before I even speak to him, he goes, ‘I’m not touring’ and I say, ‘I’m not asking’.”
“He has decided to retire and, like Phil Collins, you can’t demand these people go out there again and again and again. I’m really pleased and proud that the last show he ever did in the UK was the 2004 Isle Of Wight Festival.”
