Alan Wills, the former Shack drummer and founder of Liverpool-based record label Deltasonic, has died after a traffic collision. He was 52.
According to the Liverpool Echo newspaper, the accident occurred at around 8.30pm on Thursday, May 8th when Wills was cycling. He was taken to hospital with serious head injuries which he sadly succumbed to yesterday.
“We are investigating the full circumstances of this incident and would appeal to anyone who was in the area at the time and might have seen something to call police,” Inspector Mike McFall of Merseyside Police has said. “The information you provide could be really important for our inquiries.”
Liverpool’s Deltasonic label has provided a home to many of the city’s leading new talents since it was launched by Willis in 2000, the most prominent of those being The Coral, whose singer James Skelly has said: “Alan was a true and loyal friend.” Acts such as The Zutons, The Dead 60s and Miles Kane have also found sanctuary and success on Deltasonic during the past decade.
