Alan McGee has said he does not expect his new record label 359 Music to find another band of the size of Oasis as they were ‘the last of that type of phenomenon’.
Speaking to Louder Than War, the former Creation boss said his label will aim to provide a platform for young bands as well as offering more experienced musicians a vehicle to get their music released.
“I don’t think it’s something that could be repeated to be honest, Oasis were the last of that type of phenomenon,” he said. “With 359, I’m just happy to put out records that I’m into and really like.”
“My vision for 359 Music is a launch pad for new talent and some ignored older talent. We intend to release on average a dozen new bands per year every year – maybe more if I find a lot of new talent I like. Hopefully some of the artists will stick around and make numerous albums with 359 but some will go on to other things and that is just nature of the musical beast.”
One of the first signings to 359 was Live4ever favourite Pete MacLeod, who is now expected to issue his debut long player later this year.
