Ronnie Wood has apologised to his Rolling Stones bandmates after an interview last week appeared to suggest the band were on the verge of recording new material.
Wood was quoted as saying the Stones would soon be in the studio to ‘throw some ideas around’, but has since received a call from Mick Jagger asking him to explain his comments.
“I heard from Mick Jagger; he’s going, ‘What the hell?! We don’t know anything yet!’,” Wood told Billboard. “And I said, ‘you know what the media are like. I just expressed my personal view; I would love to go into the studio.’ Then they took it all wrong. So I have to make a personal apology to the rest of the band. I didn’t mean to say things out of line.”
Meanwhile, a new Brett Morgan directed documentary on The Rolling Stones, produced to celebrate the band’s 50th year, is scheduled for release in September. The as-yet-untitled documentary will feature rare footage dating back to 1963.
