Gorillaz will release a new track later this month as part of Converse’s ‘Three Artists. One Song’ campaign.
The band, led musically by Damon Albarn, have formed an intriguing collaboration with Andre 3000 of Outkast and LCD Soundsystem‘s James Murphy for the track ‘DoYaThing‘, which will be available as a free download from Converse’s official website on February 23rd.
In addition, Gorillaz’ Jamie Hewlett is working on a video to accompany the project, which is set to include two new characters; a martial arts baboon and a masked topless man. Hewlett has also lent his not-inconsiderable talents to Converse itself, with a Gorillaz-inspired shoe range due to be unveiled this month.
According to The Sun newspaper, an extended 12-minute version of ‘DoYaThing’, which they describe as ‘explicit’, will be released at a later date.
Damon Albarn is also due to reunite with his Blur bandmates for the first time since 2009 this month when the band are presented with the Outstanding Contribution gong at the forthcoming Brit Awards.
