These New Puritans follow-up this year’s ‘Crooked Wing’ album.
These New Puritans have unveiled a brand new song entitled The Other Side as they continue a lengthy UK and European tour.
“It’s one of the most minimal songs we’ve ever done: just Jack on piano – improvised live; me on drums and soprano,” George Barnett has observed. “It’s eaten at me that it hasn’t seen the light of day before now as it’s Jack at his best.”
“It came out of the Crooked Wing sessions, but always felt very distant from that world,” Jack Barnett added.
So we placed it in quarantine and put it to one side until now. To me it sounds nothing like us. It’s what we could have sounded like in another time and another place.
“There’s a second side,” George concluded. “This is side 1. Side 2 will come out after we have finished the Crooked Wing tour. It’s a song called speed, which starts with the sound of galloping horses.”
