Fontaines DC live at Wythenshawe Park, Manchester (Gary Mather for Live4ever)
Fontaines DC are one of six headliners announced today.
Fontaines DC, Charli xcx, Dave, Raye, Florence & The Machine and Chase & Status have all been confirmed as headliners for next year’s Reading And Leeds Festival.
Kasabian have also been revealed as Leeds‘ first ever Thursday night headliner, while it’ll be one of the biggest weekends in Fontaines’ career after their stock rose once again following the release of Romance back in the summer of 2024.
“In an idiosyncratic tell, Chatten has said that this new roving confidence is due to finally being comfortable with the sound of his own voice,” Live4ever’s review reads.
But the experience of making his solo album Chaos For The Fly, with its more intricate arrangements and complex instrumental layering, also bled through directly, and in part explains why producer-du-jour James Ford was hired to ensure that the band’s co-operative writing approach didn’t lead to muddled thinking.
“This bending away from their early post-punk roots is now as pronounced as, for example, the gap between the Arctic Monkeys’ AM and The Car.”
