The Kaiser Chiefs Predict a Riot

The Kaiser Chiefs have said the lyrical content of their output over the course of four studio albums has predicted the recent unrest seen in various cities across the UK.

Despite being best known for their 2005 single ‘I Predict a Riot‘, guitarist Andrew White has said plenty more of the Leeds band’s tracks have alluded to some of the much discussed problems in society.

“It’s funny, if you listen to our lyrics and give it a chance, we did predict this,” White told NME at the recent V Festival. “We sing about culture and the state of city centres and the state of society for five years.”

“I was reading an article about a moaning old rock star who was saying that no-one writes about culture anymore and I was thinking, ‘Who are you listening to?’,” added frontman Ricky Wilson.

Many independent labels were affected when rioting in London led to a fire at the Sony distribution warehouse in Enfield. Today (August 22nd), Sony has resumed business after establishing a new base in Hoddesdon, Hertfordshire.
