HAIM at All Points East and the latest from Arctic Monkeys‘ The Car are among the big headlines we featured last week.

HAIM have been announced as the latest headliners for this year’s All Points East event and will be joined in London by the likes of Snail Mail, Confidence Man, Tove Lo and Girl In Red.

It’s a European exclusive for the band who released their third studio album Women In Music Pt. III back in the June of 2020.

“Following on from 2017’s Something To Tell You – and co-produced by Danielle and two of the group’s long time collaborators, Ariel Rechtshaid and former Vampire Weekender Rostam Batmanglij – there’s a, to be expected, polish and maturity here, but the girls are pushing back at some familiar topics,” our review reads.

Snow Patrol have added demos, previously unreleased tracks and live recordings to their third studio album Final Straw for a 20th anniversary reissue on April 7th.

“I still have days where I don’t believe much of the last 20 years,” the band’s frontman Gary Lightbody has written in the liner notes.

“In the back of my mind, I’m still waiting for the tap on the shoulder and someone saying, ‘you’re not supposed to be here’. In a lot of ways, it’s a gift we were given. We’ve never taken any of what happened after the release of this album for granted.”

Hot off the heels of last year’s ‘Redcar les adorables étoiles‘, Christine And The Queens will release a new album on June 9th.

‘PARANOÏA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE‘ is being previewed now with To Be Honest – described by Chris as, ‘the second part of an operatic gesture’:

“Taking inspiration from the glorious dramaturgy of Tony Kushner’s iconic play, Angels in America, Redcar felt colourful and absurd like Prior sent to his insane dream-space. The follow-up PARANOÏA, ANGELS, TRUE LOVE is a key towards heart-opening transformation, a prayer towards the self – the one that breathes through all the loves it is made of.”

Arctic Monkeys have posted their official video for Sculptures Of Anything Goes as the touring behind last year’s LP The Car continues in Asia.

Glastonbury is the newest addition to a busy period of outdoor UK concerts for the band starting at the end of May after a similarly high profile 2022 summer festival season included a stop at the closing night of Leeds Festival.

“Yet Whatever People Say I Am… and AM are never far away, and it’s obvious where Leeds’ deepest affections lie,” our review reads.

Protomartyr have announced the release of their new album Formal Growth In The Desert on June 2nd.

The band will stop at SXSW at the start of North American, UK and European touring which is booked for much of this year, and are trailing the record with Make Way.

“There’s a deliberate through-line between the videos for Make Way and 2020’s Worm In Heaven,” the video’s director Trevor Naud said.

Comedians including Rose Matafeo and Harry Hill will be on the supporting cast when Yard Act undertake a 5-night residency at Leeds’ Brudenell Social Club between May 8th-12th.

“Yard Act is all about entertainment,” the band’s frontman James Smith responded. “To be truly entertained, audiences need variety in their lives.”

“Who needs to see more bands supporting more bands? Boring! Superstar stand ups started showing up at shows last year. We made some friends. Why not bring them all to Leeds to hang out and create a week we’ll never forget? We couldn’t believe they all said yes, but they did. Honestly!”
