Our round-up of the main stories we featured this week includes a new album from slowthai and a UK return for The Walkmen.

slowthai has set his follow-up to 2021’s TYRON for release on March 3rd.

UGLY will continue the trend of self-analysis and introspection seen on the previous two records, but this time soundtracked by more rock influences as hinted at in the past on collaborations with the likes of Soft Play (Slaves) and IDLES.

“The first album was the sound of where I’m from and everything I thought I knew,” Frampton said.

The Lathums will play the biggest headline show of their career so far when they appear at Castlefield Bowl in Manchester on June 30th.

The concert has been confirmed with more UK tour dates coming up in February and March, supporting the upcoming release of their new album From Nothing To A Little Bit More.

Tickets go on sale from February 3rd.

Travis Scott, Playboi Carti and D-Block Europe have been confirmed as the headliners for this year’s edition of Wireless Festival.

They’ll be joined by some more big names on the bill, not least of which special guest 50 Cent, as well as Lil Uzi Vert, Popcaan, Headie One, Ice Spice, FLO, Latto, Joey Bada$$ and more.

Wireless is to be held at Finsbury Park between July 7th-9th.

The UK will get a taste of The Walkmen’s reunion when the band head to London in August.

Two gigs have been arranged at the KOKO on August 29th and 30th, adding to the US shows this spring which are set to be launched with a five-night run at New York’s Webster Hall.

“In the ensuing years we’ve all worked on a ton of different projects in a ton of different places,” Hamilton Leithauser has said.

The Strokes have been announced for All Points East in London, leading another impressive line-up for the event which will also include the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Angel Olsen, Black Midi and Amyl And The Sniffers.

They join the previously confirmed Stormzy at this year’s concert series after last year took in headline performances from the likes of Gorillaz, Tame Impala and The National, while the dedicated Field Day bill brought The Chemical Brothers and Kraftwerk.

“After a heady first day with sets from Gorillaz and IDLES among others, Day Two of the marathon All Points East Festival is handed over to Field Day, back in their East London home with some big guns of electronic music on the bill,” our review reads.

Blur have been booked to headline Norway’s Øya Festival on August 10th this year.

2023 is shaping up to be a big one for the band after they first announced their return in November last year with plans for a gig at Wembley Stadium, Damon Albarn reflecting that they all, ‘really love playing these songs and thought it’s about time we did it again’.

“I’m really looking forward to playing with my Blur brothers again and revisiting all those great songs,” Graham Coxon added. “Blur live shows are always amazing for me. A nice guitar and an amp turned right up and loads of smiling faces.”
