Pixies were a part of this year’s Sounds Of The City series.
Pixies played the Castlefield Bowl in Manchester last night with fans there now gearing up for the release of the band’s new album Doggerel on September 30th.
That news was confirmed last month after sessions began at the end of 2021 when Black Francis met up with producer Tom Dalgety in Massachusetts.
“We’re trying to do things that are very big and bold and orchestrated,” he’s since explained. “The punky stuff, I really like playing it but you just cannot artificially create that shit.”
“There’s another way to do this, there’s other things we can do with this extra special energy that we’re encountering.”
“This time around we have grown,” Joey Santiago added. “We no longer have under two-minute songs. We have little breaks, more conventional arrangements.”
