Our recap of the main stories we featured during the past seven days includes historic touring damage from Oasis and new touring news from Gorillaz.

The red Gibson guitar which was one of the collateral victims of the fight between Liam and Noel Gallagher which brought about the end of Oasis in 2009 has sold at auction for £325,000.

The sale took place in Paris, the same city where Oasis had been due to play the Rock en Seine Festival before a backstage fight between the brothers brought both an end to that August evening’s scheduled headline set and the band entirely.

The already largely underwhelming 2008-9 Dig Out Your Soul world tour was in its final throes when Noel Gallagher confirmed his departure with a now-infamous statement on the group’s official website.

Paolo Nutini will support the release of Last Night In The Bittersweet on July 1st with a European tour starting in Limerick on August 21st.

Germany, Switzerland, Italy, France, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands will be visited once the main leg gets underway later in September, while UK dates open at Manchester’s O2 Victoria Warehouse on October 22nd.

Nutini is due back in Scotland for the final show at the Aberdeen Music Hall on November 1st.

Sam Fender, Little Simz and Dave were among the winners at the 2022 Ivor Novello Awards.

The title-track and big hit from Fender’s second album Seventeen Going Under was named Best Song Musically And Lyrically, while Little Simz’s I LOVE YOU, I HATE YOU picked up Best Contemporary Song and Dave landed his fourth Ivor when being crowned Songwriter Of The Year.

“It is a privilege to experience such an immensely powerful, emotive and eclectic range of music,” Shaznay Lewis, chair of the Ivor Awards committee, responded. “Huge congratulations to everyone who took home awards, and every single songwriter and composer nominated.”

Gorillaz

Damon Albarn will take Gorillaz to North America later this year after their European tour is completed at All Points East in London on August 19th.

Opening night is due in Canada on September 11th, while a visit to Las Vegas’ Life Is Beautiful Festival is booked for the 17th of that month.

New York gets a show when the Barclays Center is played on October 12th, and the tour is set to wrap up further down the east coast at FTX Arena in Miami.

Sports Team have premiered the official video for The Game ahead of the summer release of Gulp!, their successor to 2020’s debut album Deep Down Happy.

“It’s a mantra for a ‘nation of landlords’,” the band say. “Something to mutter to yourself behind the electric gates as the world burns around you. It’s that bunkered ‘island mentality’ where someone has allowed themselves to believe that the news is what happens to other people.”

Meanwhile, Sports Team will start a European tour in June which includes a visit to Spain’s Mad Cool Festival the following month and Portsmouth’s Victorious Festival in August.

Kendrick Lamar will start a world tour in Oklahoma City on July 19th.

North American dates then continue through to September before a European leg during October and November which includes UK gigs in Glasgow, Leeds, Newcastle, Birmingham, London and Manchester.

And there’s still time left in the year for a visit to Australasia opening on December 1st in Perth.
