It’s often said that unknown pleasures can be found lurking around every corner of South By Southwest.
But it’s not just the thousands in Austin who might’ve had to work that little bit harder to find the hidden treasures of W. H. Lung.
The Manchester-based band’s debut album was released into a flood of essential music back in 2019; lost in a tide, a craftsmanship demanding time and attention amidst so many other distractions.
Last year’s follow-up however, Vanities, was an offer of escapism, an invitation to dance taken up by a constantly growing number of SXSW patrons as that long week in March progressed.
By last orders, with singer Joe Evans in the middle of a British Music Embassy frenzy and a stage invasion closing out this year’s showcase, the W. H. Lung secret was well and truly out.
