“There’s always a seventh time for a first impression,” Interpol’s Paul Banks says of the album’s fresh sound.

Interpol have set their new album The Other Side Of Make-Believe for release on July 15th.

Tracking back to those remote days of 2020, the material began to truly take shape when the band reconvened at a rented home in the Catskills in early 2021, adding the finishing touches later that year in London with producer Flood.

The video for first single Toni is the first of a two-parter with director Van Alpert, whom the band very much enjoyed working with:

“It was a blast working with Van Alpert on the video for our song Toni. We bonded over shared film inspiration as well as a passion for classic music videos by the likes of Glazer, Cunningham and Jonze. Van is in the club with these legends; and it’s exciting to watch him build his own enduring body of work.”

“I wrote a crazy idea that I felt was new for Interpol, a hyper-modern, cinematic dance film,” Alpert adds. “A ‘lovers on the run’ story, with a classic cliffhanger ending. Dream job working for my all-time favorite band! Paul Banks ties everything together and elevated the concept, because he’s naturally a great actor, artist, and collaborator.”
