‘Skinty Fia’ is Fontaines D.C.’s first UK number one album.

What led the charge of Fontaines D.C.’s new album Skinty Fia to the top of the UK’s main rundown has been highlighted on the latest UK Record Store Chart.

With physical sales accounting for 87% of Skinty Fia’s first week total, it’s no surprise to see the LP at number one here too, immediately ahead of another posthumous high new entry from David Bowie.

The impact of this month’s Record Store Day also permeates the chart, with special releases from the likes of Childish Gambino, Blur, The Cure, Electronic and Mariah Carey all making the Top 20 this week.

A decade ago, The Official Charts Company began compiling the UK Record Store Chart to reflect the boom in vinyl sales which had begun during the previous decade. Its figures are taken from the best selling albums at 100 of Britain’s leading independent music shops.
